NATIONAL LIBRARY GETS NEW CEO
The
President and Commander-in-Chief of The Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR has appointed Professor Lenrie Olatokunbo Aina as
the new National Librarian of the National Library of Nigeria.
The appointment which was Monday, 1st August, 2016 took immediate effect.
Prof.
Aina who succeds Mallam Habib Abba Jato was one of the 17 Chief
Executive Officers recently appointed in Education Ministry by the
Federal government.
The
new National Librarian, a Professor of Library and Information
Sciences, is the immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Communications
and Information Science, University of Ilorin and until his appointment,
a visiting Professor, Africa Regional Center for Information Science,
University of Ibadan.
He
holds a Ph.D in Library Studies from University of Ibadan, M.Phil.
Information Science, City University, London, PGD in Librarianship and
B.Sc (Hons) Chemistry, University of Lagos.
He is a former
member of the 10th Board of The National Library of Nigeria, he is also
currently the chairman of the committee on the Revision of the Master in
Information Science, University of Ibadan. He was also Dean, Faculty of
Communication and Information Science, University of Ilorin and former
Head of Department of Library and Information Science in the same
University.
